Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026
Baxter Research Center ("BRC," "we," "us," or "our") provides audience and advertising research services to publishers and media companies, and software products including TrueRank, TrueStanding, and TimeLock. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you visit our websites, participate in one of our research surveys, or use our products.
This policy covers brc.com, survey.brc.com, s.brc.com, baxternet.brc.com, truerank.brc.com, truestanding.brc.com, timelock.brc.com, signin.brc.com, brc.net, and related BRC sites and email communications.
1. If You Received a Survey Invitation From Us — How We Got Your Email
We conduct research on behalf of publishers and media companies ("Clients"). If you received a survey invitation from us, your name and email address were provided to us by the Client named in that email — typically because you subscribe to, or registered with, that Client's publication or services. We did not buy your address from a data broker, and we use it only for the research described in the invitation.
- What we receive from the Client: typically your name and email address, and sometimes subscription-related details.
- What we collect from you: your survey responses, and (if you claim an incentive) the name and email you provide on the claim page.
- How responses are used: your individual responses are confidential. Results are reported to the Client only in aggregate — we do not provide your individual answers to the Client in a form that identifies you, and we never sell individual response data.
- Email engagement data: our emails record delivery, opens, clicks, bounces, and complaints so we can stop emailing people who don't want to hear from us and maintain our sending quality.
- Opting out: every email contains an unsubscribe link and supports one-click unsubscribe. You can also reply to the email or write to unsubscribe@brc.net. Opt-outs are honored permanently: we keep your email address on a suppression list specifically so we never email you again — that retention is required to honor your request. To also be removed from the Client's own list, use the Client unsubscribe link in the email or contact the Client directly.
- Incentives: where a survey offers a reward, the Survey Incentive Terms apply.
2. Information We Collect
You provide directly: contact details when you fill out a form, request a consultation, create an account on one of our products, subscribe to communications, respond to a survey, or communicate with us. Depending on the product this may include name, email, phone, company, job title, and billing information (payment card details are processed by our payment processor and are not stored on our servers).
From Clients: survey recipient lists as described in Section 1.
Automatically: when you visit our sites we collect standard technical data — IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring URLs — through server logs and the essential cookies described in our Cookie Policy. Our sites do not use third-party advertising trackers.
From public sources (TrueStanding/TrueRank): our reputation and ranking products collect publicly available business information — public reviews, ratings, business listings, and search results — about businesses our customers ask us to monitor.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to: conduct and report research for Clients (in aggregate); deliver, secure, and improve our products and services; send survey invitations and operate opt-out/suppression systems; fulfill incentives; respond to inquiries and provide support; process payments; send service and (with consent where required) marketing communications; comply with legal obligations; and detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only:
- With the sponsoring Client — aggregate survey results only, as described in Section 1; if you win or claim an incentive we may share what's needed to fulfill it.
- With service providers acting on our instructions — email delivery, cloud hosting, payment processing, SMS delivery, and similar infrastructure vendors bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- For legal reasons — to comply with law or valid legal process, enforce our terms, or protect rights, safety, and property.
- In a business transfer — merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice as required by law.
5. Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above: survey response data for the duration of the research engagement and a reasonable archival period; account data for the life of the account plus legal retention requirements; suppression-list entries indefinitely (deleting them would cause us to email people who opted out); server and email logs for a limited operational period.
6. Your Privacy Choices
- Email: unsubscribe links / one-click unsubscribe in every message, or email unsubscribe@brc.net.
- Access, correction, deletion: request a copy, correction, or deletion of your personal information at support@brc.com. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law. If you ask us to delete your email address entirely, we will explain that keeping it suppressed is the only way to guarantee you are not emailed again — the choice is yours.
- Authorized agents (California): an authorized agent may submit requests on your behalf with proof of authorization.
- No discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights.
- We do not sell or "share" (as defined by the CCPA) personal information, so there is no sale/share to opt out of. We honor browser Global Privacy Control signals where applicable.
7. United States — State Privacy Rights
If you live in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, or another state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may have rights to know/access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or profiling. We don't engage in targeted advertising, sale, or profiling that produces legal effects — the remaining rights can be exercised as described in Section 6. You may appeal a refusal by replying to our decision email; we'll respond as the relevant law requires.
Notice at Collection (California)
Categories collected: identifiers (name, email, phone, IP); commercial information (services purchased, survey participation); professional information (company, job title); internet activity (pages viewed, email engagement); inferences (none for advertising). Purposes: as described in Section 3. We do not sell or share personal information and have not in the preceding 12 months. Retention: per Section 5.
8. International Visitors and Recipients
Our services are operated from the United States and directed primarily to U.S. audiences; information you provide is processed in the U.S. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Canada, or elsewhere: we process personal data on the legal bases of legitimate interests (conducting audience research for Clients, operating and securing our services), contract (product accounts, incentive fulfillment), consent (where required), and legal obligation. You may exercise rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection via support@brc.com, and you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Where a Client provides us a recipient list containing non-U.S. addresses, the Client is responsible for having an appropriate basis to share it; we disclose the data source in Section 1.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organizational measures — encryption in transit, access controls, network restrictions, and monitoring — to protect personal information. No internet transmission is 100% secure; if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.
10. Children
Our websites, products, and surveys are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 18 (under 13 for COPPA purposes). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child provided us information, contact support@brc.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date reflects the current version; material changes will be highlighted on this page (and, for product account holders, notified by email where required).
